Merry Christmas '12

Texas Holiday '11
The tree is a little sparse, but it still has spirit.  Have a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

To celebrate, let's taken a moment and listen to the sounds of a petrol Christmas.

Piecing it together

Bought a big nut for the rear counter weight of the 13B. Misplaced (lost it) the last one, it's probably laying in another corner of the garage where in six months I'll trip over it.  But for now, I got another thing accomplished.

Maintenance

More of my friends are picking up Porsches.  Now they're coming by orange HQ to get some work done.  Just a tad more difficult than the AE86.

What's in Austin?

Things in Austin 11-12
Never been to Austin before and I never thought I would ever visit here until Formula 1 decide to plant it's seed here.  But what kind of city is the capital of Texas like to the average motorhead.  A couple of random snaps in and around the city.

Formula 1 completion

f1c2 06-100012
Farewell Mr. Schumacher, Canada 2010

Just completed watching the Brazil race since grandma's house doesn't carry Speed channel.  It was definitely an interesting year.  The title being determined at the last race, it was all down to the wire.  I enjoyed this years Formula 1 very much.  Though i'm quite sad racing hero Michael Schumacher has called it quits for the 2nd and probably last time.  Had high hopes he would make some incredible come back.  But at least I was able to see the legend race one last time.  Maybe he can join Rubens Barrichello in Indy cars, yeah wishful thinking.  But with Lewis Hamilton replacing him, it should be interesting Mercedes AMG line up.  Time hangup the Mclaren and get new Mercedes stuff.

T12

Yesterday I sat at Turn 12 of the Circuit of the Americas.  Weather was cool and bright, great day to watch the race.

Another view of turn 12.  DRS zone just ahead of the turn,  this is where many good battles were won and fought here.  This definitely is a fanstastic Formula 1 venue and everyone has to at least attend it just once or perhaps more.

And the after party wasn't bad either with some good music, chill atmosphere and alot of expensive beer.

It's who you know

When a friend of a friend who has a relation to Scuderia Ferrari you get to take a quick look at the inner workings of  F1.  I've been super ridiculously fortunate to be one who had the opportunity to see the inside.

Welcome to Austin

Flew into Austin today.  They welcomed us with a very big billboard.

They even rolled out the welcome mat.

Thank you Ferrari Formula 1 club for nice stuff.  It's going to be a great weekend.

Changing pattern

One thing i've always hated about old yellow fever and generally many of the old Mazdas, was the wheel bolt pattern that the cars were provided.  The 110 x 4 pattern is just plain horrible(what were they thinking), since it limits wheel selection to dress up the old dog.  I've been contemplating to change this and attempted rectify this.

If you've ever watched  the anime Gundam, then you'd know the character Char Aznable. I wonder if marketing a car with a Gundam character works?

Summers end

At least for me, I'm on Filipino time.  But what better way to spend it, by spewing loads of smoke from some fresh Hankook tires.  Got together with Steve C. and his spotting ladies macho machine and his co worker at the balcony for some good testing time at the Willow Springs Balcony.

Enter the Fan

There comes a time when change is needed.  After many years of service and countless battles, the time has now come to retire the JDM Honda fan that has been so reliable for many years.  It's looking a bit dated, so I decided change it.

It's made in China, may be it will be as good the old JDM one (crossing fingers).  But at least it looks a lot nicer.  And instead of one, I actually got two.  This gotta be worth some points.

86 FiESTa

Puppies are a great way to meet girls
If you're into the FRS, BRZ, and the Corolla GTS (aka AE86).  Then you must know about the or at least heard about the 86 Fest.  Long time AE86 enthusiast and friend Antonio A.organized this event at the hella far California Speedway.  It had a little of everything to make everyone leaving happy.

The cover to the Macross Memorial DVD Box Set ...

Can you believe it's been exactly 30 years (Oct. 3 1982) since the debut of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross in Japan.  A classic I can never get tired of watching.

Fuel pump for buck fifty

I guess with a domestic auto, I should expect the fuel pumps to go out more often.  Back in my shop days, I'd always change out quite a few fuel pumps from GM trucks and vans.  Never really ran across Fords, hence another reason why I swayed towards the F150.  But now I eat my words since the pump on ol' red decided to bite the bullet, I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter who you get it from

Sequoia

On the way back from San Francisco, made a detour to visit Sequoia national park.

Yup the trees are really big.

I'll probably visit here again, but this time i'll bring the grey goose.  The roads out are a hoot to drive.  Don't have pics cause I was too busy driving the rental.

Visiting North

Went north for a touristy view of San Francisco with some family.  I've passed by the Bay area many times usually it's for track events and such, did a quick drive through tour in San Francisco a few years back, but it's the first time i've taken the time to tour San Francisco.
