Macross World Convention 2013

Just like my 80's Corolla, I like my 80's anime.  Macross is tops on the list next to Robotech.  After missing a few years, I finally remembered to mark the calender for this event.

Weird Japan

Would this style ever catch on in America?  It is "JDM" after all.

Driving sunny

Instead of girls on trampolines, we have girl driving a Nissan Sunny truck. But what's cool is what they're hauling.

Love from Japan

It's nice to have a relative from Japan.  Every once in awhile, she sends the family a care package with nice goodies.

Though she never forgets her roots.  mmm the mango.

Even with the disastrous events a few months back, she is still in good spirits.

Puddi Puddi

A giant pudding called Giga Pudding.  But they sound like they're saying puddi.  Anyways it's a ridiculous commercial.  But it makes hungry for some pudding.

ex driver

If you're tired of the defying all odds AE86 (Initial D) or the satan possessed S30Z (Wangan Midnight). Here's a little european flavor for the gear heads into anime. eX-Driver features an all european cast of cars. Lancia Stratos, Lotus Europa, and Caterham Super 7, driving the streets of Japan. And since it's in Japan there's lots of drifting cause we all know that's how the Japanese drive. Just like they all know karate. The story itself is a bit on the weak side, but the detail on the vehicles are great.

But here's a clip to wet your taste buds.

And yes I spent about 4 hours of my life watching it instead of working on the beast. Not all in one sitting.

Confusion

Received a Mishimoto intercooler for the wagon from hell. I look at the box and I see this. All this time I thought Mishimoto was made in Japan. So when something sounds japanese doesn't mean it's actually from japan. But then again it may be another japanese company that's decided to out source to china cause it's so dang cheap.

New and Old

What is it with Volk Racing TE37 wheels and old Volkswagens.

I took this photo in japan in early 2008.

Mr. John took this photo in late 2009. BTW he just got married, congratulations.

Very interesting, but definitely ugly. Why do they do this.=??

What is Alto

Alto, if you're a Macross Frontier fan then you'd probably be thinking Alto Saotome. Yeah, i'm a big Macross and Robotech fan, but that's a story for another blog another time. But for the Japan car nut, think cars. Think Suzuki, some of you may already be thinking 'I thought they made motorcycles?' If you're from a different country then some of you are probably familiar with this model.

A while back I was able to take a ride in a Suzuki Alto. I never heard of such a vehicle until that day. Reason being is that it's a car that is not sold for U.S. consumption. Powered by a 3 cylinder, yes 3. Which equates to 1.0 liter of madness. This would have a been a big seller during last summers gas crunch. With 7 a gallon tank, it can take you ~250miles according to its driver. But i'll let you do the

You may think it must be slower than molasses in the middle of winter. But in acutality it's not bad at all. Due to the really thin sheet metal making this car really light. With that a weaker chassis and vibration is evident. The size of Alto is slight larger than a Smart car because it's got 2 extra doors. If it were up to my I'd have a special edition built for the canyon circuit enthusiasts.

Rollin'

It's not car related but still silly. A competition between Korea (Blue helmet) and Japan (White helmet) on who's the master in rolling 55 gal. drums. Looks like these guys have been doing it for a long time.

Down but not out.

A computer geek I am not. Unfortunately, I screwed up my computer and corrupted a bunch of files to the point it doesn't boot up anymore. So I haven't been able to put up anything. What's even more annoying is I have to grab all my files, reformat the hard drive and reinstall everything, dammit this is horrible. Anyways here's something which was forwarded to me and I thought was ridiculously cool. 1979 MG Midget that's been subjected to the Japanese rules of style. Sporting flares, wheels, and even engine from Japan. It's up for sale on ebay so if you so desire a euro car with an asian influence this might be the beast for you.
Here's the ebay link. Good luck.
