Interesting moments in D1

The outskirts of Los Angeles

There's not many places that I can cater to hobbies like this place does.  Way back, when I owned a black 1st generation 4Runner (aka Black Mamba) I would go cross rivers, catch some air, and play in the mud.

A few miles further up the road, I took the 80's corolla (aka Silver Surfer) up for some spirited runs through it's many corners, pretending to be Takumi on a tofu run.

In between the two spots is a range where I can stop and have a call of duty moment.

Usually when stuff breaks, it gets tossed.  But if it's TRD and you're a filipino, it's your duty to fix it.

Monterey Motorsport Reuinion 2011

Took some time to watch the movie Rush.  I haven't been this excited since Fast and Furious.  not.  Definitely a must watch for race fans.  Not so much fo' sho' fans.

Over the years i've accumulated quite a few tools.  From old wooden handled screw drivers to just odd specialty tools which have stumped me on it's purpose.  Like this tool above, do you know it's purpose.  It's been sitting in my tool box for years and I never new what I did.  That is until recentl,y this tool geek showed me a chain breaker that he uses for rebuilding bike chains.  WTH?? it's like a light bulb went off.  All these years (over 15) this tool has been sitting in the tool box and I finally know it does.

Red dog do you read?

The red starlet is still here baking in the socal weather.  Still quite a ways from being completed.  I still have many things that needed to be done.  Though I was able to tackle a them the past couple of weekends.  Like making a hole for the relocated transmission shifter.

Doing a brake inspection and found a pad on the thin side. Luckily, I found it before it caused any more damage to the wallet.

JDM catch can comparison

 

Legit JDM Greddy catch weighs in a 3lbs. 3oz.  Super cool definite points fo' sho'. It's easier to mount  and keeps everything nice and clean.  'Cuz that's how we do fo' sho'.

JDM coffee in a can. Weighs in at 20oz. Quenches thirst while giving your car that JDM vibe.  Guaranteed cool guy points fo' sho' and track.  A bit tricky to mount and doesn't keep the engine bay tidy as the Greddy kit.

How do you 8/6?

What do you do besides go to meets and hang out with other dudes enthusiasts.  For me, I working too much or just too lazy, so that was out of the question.  Though the weekend previous I did take out the old Corolla for a marathon, of sorts, in the canyons.

The dark side is strong with this one.

It seems that the FR-S' twin the BRZ is heading towards the path of the dark side with the addition of a turbo in the near future.  Where is Yoda when you need him.

Summer Wardrobe

With 86Fest just around the corner, what are you going to wear.  May I suggest the latest t shirt from "The Flying 86" line.  Show your spirit when you rock this at the meet.  What's also great is that it's in black so when you're working on the corolla, the grease and tire dust won't show.  I'm sure Taka wouldn't mind as long as you're not working on an s chassis.
