A local show

Stumbled upon a local show in the shopping plaza parking lot.  Best of all, it was free.

21st Route 66 Rendevous: The Stragglers

The day after Sevenstock 13, I headed out to San Bernadino for the annual Route 66 Rendevous.  A 4 day event bringing vehicles of all types, mainly big bad early american domestics.  You may see a sprinkle of europeans here and there.  The asian imports were locked in the bathroom never to be seen.

Since it was the last day of the event, I was treated to just the stragglers of the event.  Usually the streets are packed with cars either parked or cruising up and down the street.  But there was enough for me to enjoy and snap a couple of pictures of the event.

Next time i'll make an earlier trek to really see what Route 66 Rendevous is all about.  For more info on the event click here.

And for the rest of the pics follow this link

Back in...

1968 this car was rolling off the show room floor. I spotted a very clean and what looks to be very original Chevrolet Camaro. At first glance I believe this a 68, but i'm no expert. They should give this guy the medal of honor for actually driving it on crowded L.A. freeway.

Old Vette

American classics don't swing by the shop very often, like this early 60's Chevrolet Corvette. Usually these type of owners are very meticulous and prefer to take to a shop that specializes in their particular vehicle. Since this shop usually caters to old Toyotas, this was quite a surprise. But definitely a treat, since I never seen one up close and personal. A clean car, with a coolness factor that is second to none. Even people just walking by would stop and just admire the car.

Godzilla taken down

It wasn't a Porsche nor a car from barely above water Chevrolet Z06 that took down the mighty GTR. But maybe we're hoping for an Initial D fantasy and the legendary AE86 did what was only done in anime. Well get that out of your head, a plain jane Mitsubishi Evolution battled the baddest Nissan ever made, like a modern day David and Goliath, and took home some bragging rights. From what I hear the driver, 20 year old, piloted the beast. The level of driving skill is unknown, but it goes to show that without skill even the most technologically advanced vehicle is just plain useless. But at least he done it in battle and not crashing into a pole trying to show off to the bitches and bro's. But let's get smart and keep it on track.

Project 740 #3 Junkyard hopping

Well it's been a while since i've actually been to the yard, mostly because I'm too lazy to grab parts. I'd rather have someone else do it for me. Anyways just looking for stuff for Hell Boy's Wagon, when I came across these two beasts of burden.

Jaguars both equipped with Chevy v8 engines. I normally don't come across these at the yard, but I thought it quite the coincidence that there was two of them. I assume they came from the same place. Both in different states of disrepair, one looking worse than the other. Unfortunately, as many Volvos I did find at the yard they didn't have anything I wanted.

Though I also found this little gem

50's era Desoto at the front of the yard. I don't know if it was for sale or not, but it really looked to be in pretty good shape. Something I wouldn't mind picking up and making into a nice little cruiser.
