OMG

I always thought the most boro drift cars were in So Cal. But then Japan seems to always step up their game. I wonder who's gonna step up to plate and beat that.

This a Toyota Carina AA63. With a 4AGE turbo, with a very interesting blow off valve.

one fitty

Headed out to Fontana over the weekend to preview the 2011 Ford F150. I'm not really in the market for a new rig, at least not yet. But offering real performance test drives, not some drive around a neighborhood, how could I pass it up.

Trying out the different powertrains that were available, the Ecoboost engine was a real eye opener. The engine is a twin turbo V6 with direct injection, and you know I love my turbo! Using trailer weighing ~6600lb. felt like it was towing a set of Seadoos.  Coupled with the 6 speed transmission, was very smooth. I'm already falling in love with this combo.

At the make shift drag strip, the Ecoboost engine once again amazes me. It definitely has more juice than the 5.0 that was offered in the line up. Didn't try the 6.2, but I'm sure it'll put the smack down on the Ecoboost. But then again I don't think the 6.2 can pull off +20mpg.

Afterwards I came out looking at my own '01 thinking it maybe time for an upgrade.

Eye of the Tiger. Do you have it?

Little intercooled turbo kei cars, narrow canyon roads, and torrential down pour. When the eye of the tiger gets in you there's nothing that will stop you from enjoying passions.

Where's the mojo

It's been a few months since i've been back in the seat, 5 months to be exact.

Like Austin Powers in the Spy that Shagged me., I thought I lost the mojo. But after a few minutes behind the wheel and burning a couple of tires at the past weekends Drift Day would tell me otherwise. It's good to be back but damn I just burned a set of tires, I bought yesterday, in an hour.

One thing that annoyed me was that fact I only driven the car with it's new found tune and boost only once. After spending a day with the car, i've become addicted again. The dark side (boost) is definitely good with this one.

Im also trying out a new suspension setup this time. I've been a Koni user/fan for most of my driving career ,but it's about time for a change. And I got a good deal on some TRD shocks so why not.

With the new suspension the car was hella dumped. The neighbor was concerned I would rip the fenders off the car. But alas it was not the case. I'm glad the dealer cares about the welfare of the car even though his car would probably say otherwise.

The car still has some quirks that need to be addressed, yeah I know i've gotta take care of the burning oil. My apologizes to all who inhaled. I guess it's time to cough up some cash for a turbo.

Not 1600cc it's 1600+ hp

Found this on youtube, a turbo 4 rotor engine, displacing approximately 2.6L, making 1600+ hp. Damn, that's more than the 4AGE engine displaces. Maybe New Zealand drifter Mad Mike should drop this into his FD. Naw the sweet music of a naturally aspirated rotary at full throttle is just plain mind numbing. I wonder if this will into an RX 3.

Returning to Turbo Power

I remember going to the Long Beach GP back in the day and love the way cars sounded. Besides the use of turbos, a drop in cylinders to either 4 or 6 has been mentioned. Which I think will probably benefit the consumer since technology in racing will always trickle down to the consumer. Let's hope that there will be more manufacturers stepping up to the plate in the rebirth of open wheel racing in America.
