The final evolution

As many motors that i've gone through out of my sheer irresponsibility/stupidity. This motor is going to be the last 4AG for me. Pray I don't get stupid with this one.

Since I had some paint left, I decided to use it rather than have it sit and go to waste. I'm going all out with this one.

It's call grabber green.

Final check of the cam settings

The final settings.

There's still a few more things I need to change/ check before it's ready to drop in ube cake.
Hopefully next weekend.

4 Barrel

Even though the Formula Atlantic series doesn't use Toyota power anymore. The 4AG gurus at Hasselgren engineering still got their thinking caps cranking for kick ass stuff for the A series engine fanatic. Check out the billet barrel throttle body. So damn cool, hopefully they'll get a video with their iconic FA engine at 10,000 rpm.

Custom headers

By Racetoys, very pretty don't you think? This is one is made for 2-TG. I'm sure if you ask nicely and have alot of $$$ then they can make one for your engine.

Ancient Blitz

Dropped by the shop over the weekend to pick up a part. I came across this little gem. Old blitz air/water intercooler setup. At first glance I thought this thing came off a Japanese Kei car like a AZ-1 Autozam or Alto Works.

The boss informed me was part of a turbo upgrade kit made by Blitz for a Toyota 3TGTE.

Here's what the 3TGTE looks like note the twin spark plugs per cylinder

Besides the KKK turbo, it also came with a mini radiator and water pump to complete the power upgrade.

Here's a better comparison on how small this intercooler really is.

But this is what I picked up at the shop, thanks Ray. Since I busted my other block the boss had another 20v engine laying around. The ube delivery vehicle will be up and running soon.

Mustang too

The morning commute is usually full of nothing. But for some reason I was drawn to this Ford Mustang during the morning rush. A mid seventies Mustang 2, a car built to compete with the invasion of gas sippin' japanese imports. Since the gas crunch at the time had made buying big american v8 muscle cars a no no. This fine malaise era example is in pretty good shape for it's age. I would guess it was repainted since the paint just looks too good. It's got the 6 digit california plates, so it's probably been a california car all it's life. Almost 35 years later it's nice to see the old car still on the road.

one gear

requires so much work. Replaced 2nd gear for the backup transmission. This required almost complete disassembly of the transmission.

I get annoyed everytime I do this. Gonna have to upgrade.

Daigo gets it done

D1 driver Daigo Saito first does over drift in his 4 door Toyota Chaser. I found this video on Club4AG. This time Daigo does a jumping drift. This guy needs to get into a rally car.

Snap

When I thought all is well in the world, I get tossed curve ball. All was going to plan and I was going to have the engine dropped in and running by this weekend. Assembly was taking place during the week and I was so close to getting done. Unfortunately during the assembly of the cylinder head is where it all ended. The first step in tightening the head bolts came off without a hitch. The first 90 deg turn was beginning and by the 3rd bolt I hear a snap. And it was a loud snap, where I really thought I broke the head bolt. I thought how could that be, these were new head bolts. Yeah I know, normally i reuse bolts, but these bolts had a couple of uses so it was time for new ones. So I removed the bolt and it was good. I was like what??? So I installed another bolt and it just kept spinning. Dropped a magnet in the hole and this is what I got. So the threads on the block are done, now I wished it was the bolt that snapped. Time to find another 20v block.

Remans

It's kinda rare for remanufactured parts to fail even before you put it on the car. But it does happen no matter how stringent the quality control. I should know, used to work in the engineering department for a company that did just that. After 2 nights of screwing around, ended up buy brand new Toyota. Thanks Herb @ Cabe Toyota for keeping the AE86 stuff in stock.
