Powered by 6 rotors

I've heard of a 4 rotor 26b Le mans race car rumble up close many years back.  I can only imagine what this Mazda RX 4, shoehorned with a custom 6 rotor engine would sound like in real life.  Since 2 rotor engines are considered equivalent to 6 cylinder engines, this would make the 6 rotor engine equivalent to 18 cylinders. Overkill? I think not.

Vintage HKS

Pick this up from a local chap awhile back.  Parts like these are very rare to see nowadays, so I jumped at the chance at getting it.  Kinda like chicks with their purses, obtaining old HKS parts seems to be my vice.  But it'd be a nice addition to the old twin tip exhaust, the original HKS sport exhaust.

Excessive silicon

Be very wary of shops that are manned by rookies who know more about jdm style than  working on cars.  As this unfortunate owner of a 20v 4ag who picked up this engine at a shop in San Diego.  It was sold to him as turn key setup for the AE86.  It had issues here in there, but I think this takes the cake.  Hopefully a little piece of silicon didn't break off a plug a water passage.  Instead of getting done sooner it's getting done later.  Damn rooks.

The Future champions

Before they became Formula 1 world champions.  Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel were battling it out in Formula 3 in 2005.  Some fantastic moves between two great racers.  Can't for the 2013 season to start.

Formula 1 in Austin Texas
USGP 2012, Austin, Texas
Years later, they still continue to battle for supremacy.

A/C redux

When I first got the grey goose, one of the many things i enjoyed was a working air conditioning system.  Eventually it broke down and needed to fix.  Since R12 is not readily available and quite expensive, thanks tree huggers, conversion to R134a was the only available option.  But after a couple summers of getting marginal results, it needed to change.  Due to the system being 25 years old and not up to the task of the latest freon.  Anyone who tells you R134a in their corolla blows ice cold is smoking crack or lives in the land of Palin.  I could try and ghetto rig a larger condenser, to work around R134a's shortcomings, but i've decided to try a hydrocarbon based type of gas which is questionable, but it works better than what is in there currently.  Will update shortly with a review, unless I blow up.

Taking own advice

I'm always open to share my thoughts if I'm asked.  Though one question they do ask frequently, if they are getting taken in by shops that tell them they'll be needing brakes done, when they're only in for an oil change.   Some places are like that but most just want to keep their customers informed.  Just like air in the tires who is going to check it? Even when I do a bit of service on cars i'd always try tell them the condition of the brakes.

Unfortuantely, I didn't follow my own advice.  After a month from doing my oil change, my brakes are done, at least one side.

Luckily for me there was something in the back.  Though a bit rusty, nothing the a wire brush can't fix.

Cerakote

Dark flat earth above, Tungsten below.
Never heard of this stuff called Cerakote, until recently.  Really popular with the firearms crowd for coating their frames for a fraction of a type 3 hard anodizing, which is very tough, not that cheap anodizing you see in AN fittings and stuff..  It's similar to powder coating since it needs to sprayed on and baked.  But it's much more durable and resists nicks and pitting and work well in high temps.  Got me thinking into using this stuff on wheels and various other parts.
