There comes a time when change is needed. After many years of service and countless battles, the time has now come to retire the JDM Honda fan that has been so reliable for many years. It's looking a bit dated, so I decided change it.
It's made in China, may be it will be as good the old JDM one (crossing fingers). But at least it looks a lot nicer. And instead of one, I actually got two. This gotta be worth some points.
If you're into the FRS, BRZ, and the Corolla GTS (aka AE86). Then you must know about the or at least heard about the 86 Fest. Long time AE86 enthusiast and friend Antonio A.organized this event at the hella far California Speedway. It had a little of everything to make everyone leaving happy.
Let's check to be sure timing is zero. Keeping the marks in line so that your 4AG always keeps firing. And it's been sometime since I put anything car related.
Can you believe it's been exactly 30 years (Oct. 3 1982) since the debut of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross in Japan. A classic I can never get tired of watching.
I guess with a domestic auto, I should expect the fuel pumps to go out more often. Back in my shop days, I'd always change out quite a few fuel pumps from GM trucks and vans. Never really ran across Fords, hence another reason why I swayed towards the F150. But now I eat my words since the pump on ol' red decided to bite the bullet, I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter who you get it from
I'll probably visit here again, but this time i'll bring the grey goose. The roads out are a hoot to drive. Don't have pics cause I was too busy driving the rental.
Went north for a touristy view of San Francisco with some family. I've passed by the Bay area many times usually it's for track events and such, did a quick drive through tour in San Francisco a few years back, but it's the first time i've taken the time to tour San Francisco.
Not necessarily high rise headers that many 4AG people seem to go ga ga. When I first looked at it, my first thought was how much room was available for such a marvelous header. I've done a few KP/ 4AG swaps in my time and remember how small a tight it was to maneuver, Then I realize it's a right hand driver.
Pic from Garage 4AG
A different view of the headers. Beautiful piece of work. As interesting as KPs are as a car, I dunno if I really want to own one. .

A few months back I ordered and received and radiator from China. After many distractions and over coming my lethargic tendencies (technical term for laziness), i've finally got around to installing the radiator into ol' Buttercup. As much as i'd like to keep the retained the factory components, the
original radiator was already giving up the fight. I had radiator fixed
many summers ago and the shop informed me that the radiator was on it's last leg. They did mended it as best they could.and I was able to use it for many years of enjoyment.
Usually the only time I ever wake up early on a weekend, is when I'm headed out for a track day. But this time around I'm up at the crack of dawn to check out a car meet. I've always heard of the Cars & Coffee meet always seen on many blogs, but never got around to checking it out for myself, until now.
Being that was the weekend before 8/6, I should be doing something for the purple crush or the gray goose. But that's not the case for me. I could have maybe joined Moto and his FRS cruise of Los Angeles. But I ended up at Del Marrace track for a bit of horse racing action.
Well it was a very interesting pseudo vacation. Had my last meal of waffles, coffee and yogurt. Watched Formula 1 Germany on the large flat screen. Then headed out to the track to pick up the trailer so we can make our way back to Southern California. Even after the Formula D event was over on saturday, the locals held an event on Sunday. I tell you drifting is in their blood.
The day of reckoning has arrived. With the car running good and Taka qualifying in the top 32 the stage is set for some interesting competition or controversy. It seems I was wondering what was going on during competition rather than enjoying it. But at least monsoon season is over and the track was greeted by the sun.
For some reason I feel like I'm at work, but in another universe, I woke up early and got my usual. Waited for the rest of the gang to roll out of bed and head out to the track. Since yesterday's practice day was taken up by the engine repair, today's hour practice will be the only chance to see if all our efforts from the night before will be worth it.
Last episode, taka's car was feeling a little pooped. After some discussion that night with Taka and crew chief Dan, it was agreed to pull the head. Went to bed pretty late, but I still woke up at 6 a.m. (i'm still on the work bio clock). While everyone was still sleeping I headed down for my continental breakfast of waffles, yogurt and coffee (this was the norm for the whole week.).
Vacation time is something I rarely use to my benefit. Mainly due to laziness. I haven't really made an effort to actually plan a trip. But since i'm not public union worker I can't be like a chipmunk and hoard my hours until i'm able to cash it out when it's time to retire. Usually I just take one day to make a 3 day weekend. But when Megan Racing graciously offered a ride to Formula DSeattle, how could I resist.
Water line is rerouted and sent directly to the radiator.
Plumbing of a 4AGZE is not only the air charge pipes. The cooling system must also be considered when designing and completing the GZE project. Quite a few projects i've come across have always eliminated the use of a thermostat. Since the original spot for the thermostat for the RWD 4AG is now occupied by the SC12 supercharger. Well let's fix that.
But I really hate the owners who let their stupid (insert animal here) roam around the neighbor. Making their mess in random places, like this wheel. So I end cleaning up after their stupid pets. Those bastards.
It used to be early to bed, for an early morning trek to the track. Though this weekend was a change in schedule. Xtreme speed setup a night time track session at Willow Springs for some of the night owls who have a problem with getting up late. I must say it's a bit different waking up later, and moving like molasses to load up and head to the track.

After concluding some business at the Citadel, I spotted this Toyota Hiace in the parking lot. I though the Toyota Hiace was only sold in asian markets. Looks some one from TijuanaMexico scored one. And if you're wondering, it is left hand drive.
Even though Anime Expo caters to the newer types of anime, I grew up on Tranzor Z and Robotech. I still support it and I still love going here and its quite fun. I was bummed when I had to miss last year so I made a last minute decision to make the trek to downtown Los Angeles for the 2012 event.
I think i wanna build a dash like this. Though I'd probably leave out the middle light. I would feel like I'm being watch by HAL 9000 if i left it there.
