I've heard of a 4 rotor 26b Le mans race car rumble up close many years back.  I can only imagine what this Mazda RX 4, shoehorned with a custom 6 rotor engine would sound like in real life.  Since 2 rotor engines are considered equivalent to 6 cylinder engines, this would make the 6 rotor engine equivalent to 18 cylinders. Overkill? I think not.

Say it isn't so

A revolutionary engine has finally been laid down to rest in Japan.  Mazda has finally ended it's production of the rotary engine.  I'm sure many fanboys have started going into an emo state when they read the news.  But I guess it was inevitable since Mazda is promoting their skyactiv technology stuff.  I should start thinking about hoarding rotary engines, since there's currently no one going take mazda's place.  There maybe a gold mine out there.

Reacquainted with 3

The last time I putted around in the old 3 was in 2003 for Sevenstock 6.  Since then it's been quietly sitting under the cover waiting for time where it will one day rumble down the streets spitting out flames of fear and the rotary screaming to be worked up to redline.

Almost 10 years later, after bolting the seat in the car, I finally sat in Mr. 3  Now I need to get the old dog up and running again.

Rotor heads unite: Sevenstock 13

The annual gathering all things rotary at Mazda headquarters in Irvine, California.  Once again i'm here with no RX3 in hand.  Oh well maybe next time (yeah right).  As usual it's a pretty good show w/ lots of clean an interesting cars.

This always reminds me what i'm missing on my burger.

Here's an interesting concoction.  A hacked up Volkswagen with a shoe horned with a rotary engine.  Upon closer inspection, this people's car is converted from rear engine to front engine rear drive vehicle.  It looks to be a street legal vehicle also.  Who would sport such a thing?  I would with pride.
 Even saw a few Toyota corollas lurking around.

Sevenstock11

This weekend's regular Cars and Coffee meet was temporarily interrupted to make way for the annual pilgrimage of rotary fans from all over. The 11th year of Sevenstock was held at Mazda headquarters in Irvine, Ca. The last time I attended this meeting was a few years ago at the Mazda R&D center when I brought my 3 out. I didn't bring out the 3 this year since i'm lazy and didn't want to pull it out of storage. Yes I have alot of junk all over it.

I took mainly pics of the old school cars, since there's just a bunch of later model stuff and they just seem all the same to me. But don't fret, I tried to capture cars that caught my eye.



A very rare Mazda Cosmo. No wonder Jay Leno decided to pick one up for himself. There's just nothing else like it.

There quite a few interesting vehicles that were also roaming around the area too.

A Tesla roadster dressed like a ninja silently makes it's way through the Mazda parking lot unnoticed. Luckily for I was able to snap this before it disappered to the Mazda's underground garage.

Say it isn't so. 2nd gen. RX7 sacraficing it's own hood to make a rear wing. With that let's close our tour of Sevenstock 11.

Vintage Racing

Since i've been busy with other things lately, and haven't been racing or drifting. I decided to watch a vintage race on Sunday. The Vintage Auto Racing Association (VARA) held their Route 66 Classic racing event at California Speedway over the weekend. I was able to catch part of Sunday's event. Even shot a couple of pictures while I was at it. Everyone there was really nice love to talk cars. Even though I can't say i'm not familiar with many of the cars, it was really nice to watch classic cars still stomping the track as they did many years ago. Maybe one day the Corolla will join these ranks.


I've always been a rotary fan espcially RX-3's. I'm not just a fan I also own one. This one was the only one in a field, battling with Porsche's and 240Z's. According to the owner he'd passed about 20 Porsche's on his way to a class victory.


This BMW also caught my eye. With it's aggressive aero, you know it means business. It ran the last race of the day, which was filled with many V8 domestics.


I'm not sure what kind of car this is, but I love the curves on this thing. This is something i'd like to just cruise around town.


Maybe with a better seat.
