Another day wonderful Montreal. Did I tell you how much I love this place. Check the previous post. Today we go to the famed Gilles Villeneuve Circuit.
The best way to get there is by Montreal's subway system. Just like Japan, it's very easy to use and so convenient. It was just a block away from our hotel.
There is still quite a bit of walking required to get to the track itself since it's in a park, Parc Jean-Drapeau.
After the subway, you need to go through the forest
Next is crossing a bridge.
Then it's through another forest, by the time you get out, you're greeted by this guy on the big screen.
To here these things at full song is so beautiful. So loud, yet so sweet. Qualifications for today was so exciting since at the last minute Lewis Hamilton pulled a rabbit out of his helmet with the pole on his last lap with barely enough gas to make the finish. I'm sure you all know that already.
Now let's take another walk about the city. I don't know if was Formula 1 or the World Cup, but there was a bunch of things going on everywhere around downtown.
We'll if you in Montreal Canada, it's a must. After about 9 hours of travel i've finally arrived to attend the Canadian Grand Prix. Since it's my first trip here, I didn't know what to expect. I'll be brief.
The strip club here was flanked between a chinese restaurant and pizza shoppe. No joke. Even the ladies were chillin out side on their break, so you know what you're getting into. I think i'm loving this place already.
This was also the start of the Montreal arts festival. So there was alot music on different stages depending on your taste. All in french but no doubt alot of fun.
Row of bikes were for rent. How convenient is that.

So far this has been a great trip. Great people, great music, great place. Viva la France Montreal!
No it's not like that crap they pull at Formula D. As of late, people seem to be buying brake boosters thinking they are bad. One person I questioned never checked the booster, they just assumed it since the brakes weren't working.
Here's how to check: Step 1 with engine off, pump the brakes a few times and hold it.
Step 2 with your foot still on the brake, turn on the car. Your foot should move forward slightly, that lets you know that the booster is working.
Here's a video to show you what I mean. And that is not me.
So before you hit the boards searching for the booster, make sure it is the booster that is causing the problem.
When you don't wanna travel to the east coast to hang by the wall, or chill at a parking lot in venice beach california. What else is there to do. Well if have no life but lots of tires, then you'll find yourself at willow springs california. Where flush and drift join forces, schmoozing track officials with barely legals and a water bottle full of vodka.
The event was small numbered but full of corollas, with one token 240 guy.
The most Levins (and 1 faux) i've seen since in one event.
Even a TE72 reppin. And that is a girl showing off her skills.

This duo was impressive the whole day. I hear their home course is Adams kart track, and it was their first time at the balcony. But they were driving like they owned the place. Keep it up!
Definitely alot of fun, even though it was a 100 deg. that day.
Hopefully, i'll see this guy take a win for Mercedes. Go Schumi!
But after missing my chance to go to U.S. Grand Prix a few years back, I knew I had to make this event. Since good 'ol Bernie is such a loose cannon who knows what venue he's going to add or remove. But then he pulls a fast one and now it's been recently announced Austin, Texas as a venue. But then again I don't want to wait 2 years. Who knows what's going to happen between now and then. Bernie changing his mind altogether or Austin not able to pull off a track in 2 years. I'll believe when I see it. And when I do i'll be there too!
Decided to yank out the engine bay wire harness from the Corolla last weekend. Cleaning up the engine by a bit more. I didn't take the interior nor the rear harness out since i'd rather have control of lights, lights, fuel pump etc. with factory switches.
This plug pretty much powers the whole car. The wires come from the main fuse box in the engine bay. I ran the wires to the kill switch. Added a fuse block so I don't fry anything.
I should go for them painless wiring kits but don't wanna spend too much doing that when i could spend it at the track. Kinda dumb since I'll take weeks wiring up other peoples cars, but hate spending a weekend to do my own.
But eventually i'll get the electric system to look like this.
A friend who works at the parts department at the Toyota dealership gets an order for a TRDLSD rebuild kit. A few days later he gets a call from the customer and says that he was sent the wrong kit. Knowing my friend, he is the bible when it comes to AE86 parts. Rechecks and confirms he sent the right parts. He requests a picture of the differential. He looks at the differential and verifies it as stock LSD and not TRD. So not to put my friend agony and probably any other Toyota parts guy any agony, here's a pic the clutch disc you'll know that TRD discs will not fit in stock housing. I added a picture of Cusco lsd plates just to show that Cusco>TRD.
Well time has come to say good bye to Montreal. I've enjoyed every minute. I hope to visit again and enjoy the hospitality.
